Our Charity Fun Run May 2019
On the 14th May 2019 Maggie and Estela our staff members organised and took part in a charity run with students for the charity MIND.
"Your present circumstances don't determine where you go. They merely determine where you start from." - Maggie Langan (Staff)
Each year Maggie one of our staff members runs for charity in half and full marathons. She has only been running for just under three and a half years and is an inspiration to us all. Her first London Marathon was completed in just four hours and forty five minutes at the age of 59 and she chose to run for the Royal Society for the Blind. She recently competed in the Hackney Half-Marathon and finished in two hours and eleven minutes; she will also be taking part in The Great North Run later in the year. Her chosen charity this year is MIND and we have raised £139.00 for the charity so far this year. When speaking to her about her running she said "You are never to old to take up sports" and at the age of 61 she has a good point!
Our staff and students ran 2k for charity at the Peter May Sports Ground. The day was hot and sunny and the students and staff competed against each other for trophies and medals. Micha came first for the girls team and Myles came first for the boys. For many years Estela has organised lots of charity fundraisers for our school to enjoy and we are hoping this is the start of many events at our school and we are looking forward to the next sporting event for charity.
