Don't Get Court!
On 27th June our final group of pupils were invited to visit the Plaistow Custody Suite, 350 Romford Road, London.
The purpose of the visit was for students to experience how a custody suite works and to experience how a court room operates. This was linked to learning in their mentoring sessions and our drive to improve students ability to safeguard themselves and others.
The students found out lots of interesting things whilst on their visit. They looked closely at police procedures including processing people who are arrested and what happens behind the scenes. They saw how things are done such as charging a suspect after interviewing them. They had a chance to be inside an interview room and also experience being locked in a cell.
DNA and fingerprints play an important part in solving crimes. Students looked at the forensic side of police work and took DNA swabs and fingerprints with the various machines and equipment there. They also had their height measured and their photographs taken.
This was an interesting and exciting opportunity to see how the police work and who knows there may be an few aspiring PC's in our midst!
