Safer London Workshops
On the 30th October 2019 Raeesah from Safer London and Ammaarah from Ashiana Network came in to talk to Year 10 and Year 11 students about VAWG (Violence Against Women and Girls). Raeesah focussed on domestic abuse and healthy relationships, with a key focus on consent and keeping safe. Ammaarah ran a session on harmful practices such as FGM, forced marraiges and honour based violence, highlighting the support services that are available to students if they feel unsafe.
The students were really interested in the content of the sessions and were fully engaged with the activities within the sessions. The students gave feedback at the end of the session which allows the Safer London group to tailor future sessions to meet the areas of need flagged up by the student responses.
