On Monday 17th September 2018 the Hawkswood group were visited by Princess Beatrice and Miss Holly Branson in collaboration with "The Big Change".
As founders of Big Change charity, Princess Beatrice and Miss Branson met children who have been excluded from mainstream education, but who are being given the chance to thrive in a new environment, where their teachers have undertaken specialist training. They started the day with a welcome at Hawkswood Primary which included a tour of the school and meeting with staff and pupils.
Princess Beatrice and Miss Branson then travelled to Burnside with staff and students on our school minibus to meet with staff and pupils. Touring the school and looking at students in classes. They watched our students in Drama and Citizenship, at lunch and break they engaged with the students. They held a round table meeting with our students to talk about how Burnside has made a difference to them and their aspirations, our students were excited and proud to be part of such a special day.
Later in the day they returned to Hawkswood Primary to have a meet and greet with past and present students across the group as well as staff and local authority representatives.
