Horticulture at Hawkswood 2018
Over several weeks groups of our students travelled to the Hawkswood site to improve the garden area in the school. They spent time learning how to use power tools to cut wood and make some raised flower beds. Some students repainted the fences with wood preservers and restored an old garden table and chairs.
The students went to the local garden centre and purchased compost and selected plants to use in the old rowing boat they restored as a planter. They cut the grass with a petrol lawnmower and pruned the trees and shrubs already growing in the garden.
The final phase of the work was for the students to jet wash down the patio area. This was a very hands on project and every student enjoyed their time there. All of the students who worked on the project enjoyed a BBQ provided by Catherine Davies our Executive Headteacher/ CEO.
