Forecasters are predicting a cold spell this week with the possibility of snow. In keeping with their advice, we recommend that pupils should wear a warm coat and appropriate footwear to school every day (inclusive of Wellington boots).
Should the predicted snowfall possibly lead to school closure, please keep checking the school website for more information. In the event of closure, pupils can continue to log onto lessons from home.

Linda McCaffrey, Headteacher says:
Welcome to Hawkswood Therapeutic School, serving all secondary schools in the London Borough of Waltham Forest.
We offer a short-term therapeutic and educational intervention (typically two terms) for children aged 11-16 who are struggling with tier 2/3 mental health issues. The core curriculum for Hawkswood is delivered through an exciting blend of technology and collaborative/ interactive learning via Apricot Online Learning with the intention of engaging students in active learning, individualising, differentiating and personalising learning through the effective use of multimedia and creating multiple literacies.
In addition, our SSEN provision provides therapeutic and educational intervention (typically two terms for KS3 but extends to two years in KS4) for pupils aged 11-16 who have a statement of special educational needs (SEN), and concomitant tier 2/3 mental health issues.
At Hawkswood we understand the pressures and stresses involved in managing mental health issues and aim to support parents as well as pupils in making positive changes that lead to positive outcomes both in terms of mental health management and academic progress.
Our aim is to support pupils back into mainstream school as soon as possible. Our professional team of teachers and therapists, including an onsite CAMHS Therapist seconded to our school, work intensively with pupils. We have a consistent rate of success with reintegration as a consequence of the intensive work undertaken by my excellent team.
I am very proud of the staff and pupils at our school and of the excellent reputation that we have built. I look forward to getting to know you and your child and working together so that your child can achieve their maximum potential.
