Values and Ethos

At Forest Pathway College (FPC) the majority of our students are new arrivals to the country therefore our first aim is to support students to improve their English language skills and develop their confidence to interact with other students and staff in English.

At the forefront of all our work is the core vision of the Hawkswood Group:

Empower – students develop emotional resilience at FPC which leads to them progressing into a positive destination for Year 12 with confidence. It is important to staff at FPC that students have ambition for themselves and are able to visualise their future pathways and understand the steps they need to take in order to reach their desired destination.

The School Council was established in February 2019 and encourages students to be strong leaders through giving them the power to make decisions about school activities, curriculum, planning events and timetabling. Council members are expected to be the voice of their class and must relay and discuss all council issues with the members of their tutor groups.

In order to support students to make further positive contributions to the community, plans are in place to introduce the London Young Ambassadors programme from September 2019.

Aspire – students leave FPC gaining good qualifications, skills and a level of self-understanding which helps them to recognise their strengths and areas where they need support. Students are encouraged to face up to their weaknesses and ask for help and support either from staff or their peers.

Staff and students develop good relationships that are fostered through trust and the core belief that students are treated as young adults rather than children.

Achieve – all students at FPC make progress and develop a passion for education.
